How to Fix a Blurry or Pixelated LinkedIn Banner

Make a strong professional first impression. Learn the exact LinkedIn background photo dimensions and safe zones.

Your LinkedIn background banner is a massive billboard for your personal brand. Unfortunately, most users upload standard photos that LinkedIn aggressively crops, stretches, and pixelates.

The Correct Dimensions

A personal LinkedIn profile banner requires a very specific, ultra-wide panoramic aspect ratio. The exact required dimensions are 1584 pixels wide by 396 pixels tall (a 4:1 ratio).

If you upload an image smaller than 1584px wide, LinkedIn will digitally stretch it to fit the frame, destroying the resolution and making you look unprofessional. You must start with a high-resolution photograph and use a LinkedIn Banner Resizer to cut out the exact 1584x396 slice you want to display.

The Profile Picture "Danger Zone"

LinkedIn does not display the entire banner cleanly. Depending on whether the recruiter is viewing your profile on a desktop monitor or the mobile app, your circular profile picture will overlap the bottom-left corner of the banner.

The Fix: Never place company logos, email addresses, or important text in the bottom-left quadrant of your image. Always keep critical information centered or aligned to the far right.

Dealing with the 8MB Limit

LinkedIn will reject any background image larger than 8MB. If you export a complex banner from Photoshop or Canva that exceeds this limit, run it through an Image Compressor to strip the hidden metadata while keeping the 1584px width pristine.
