Amazon Product Image Requirements for 2024
Increase your seller conversion rates by mastering Amazon's strict main image requirements and hover-to-zoom dimensions.
As an Amazon Seller (FBA), your main product image is the single most important factor in your click-through rate. If your image violates Amazon's Terms of Service, your listing will be suppressed. If it is formatted poorly, buyers will ignore it.
The "Main Image" Rules
The very first image in your listing must adhere to strict aesthetic guidelines:
- Pure White Background: The background must be exactly RGB 255,255,255.
- No Text or Logos: You cannot include badges, watermarks, or promotional text like "Sale!" in the main image.
- Product Size: The physical product must occupy at least 85% of the image frame.
Activating "Hover-to-Zoom"
Amazon desktop users can hover their mouse over a product to zoom in and see fine details. This feature is crucial for conversion, but it is only activated if your image is large enough.
Amazon requires a minimum of 1000 x 1000 pixels to activate zoom, but the professional standard is to upload a 2000 x 2000 pixel image.
Furthermore, your image must be a perfect 1:1 square. If you upload a rectangular photo, Amazon's grid will pad it with white space, making your product look tiny compared to competitors. Use an Image Resizer to lock your crop to a perfect square before uploading.
